For those whose work requires them to identify and respond to children's safeguarding needs and make referrals to and work in partnership with Children's Services 

  Aim :

Solihull Children’s Services are transforming their culture, practice and services for children through restorative practice. This focuses on building strong, meaningful, and respectful high challenge, high support relationships with a focus on personal responsibility and an emphasises on the importance of doing things with people rather than to or for them.

Restorative practice provides the foundations for Children's Services Solihull Connecting Families  practice framework and as well as the basis for organisational culture.

This session will provide a foundation of understanding for the partners so that there is a common understanding of the basic principles of restorative practice and its implementation in Children’s Services.

  Learning Outcomes :
  • An introduction to the concepts, theories and philosophy of restorative practice
  • Provide an understanding of the importance of the building, maintaining and repairing of relationships, understanding Social Capital as relational currency.
  • Provide an understanding of connection before content.
  • Provide an understanding of perspective and need, developing belonging and community.
  • Provide an understanding of the working WITH model and applying it to practice, culture and partnerships– High challenge and high support mode
  • An overview of a range of restorative practices being developed in Solihull
